Highlights of German Medicine Program

  • Germany provides the best and the most cost-effective study options for aspiring overseas student.
  • Total duration of the program is around 7.5 years (which includes 1.5 year of pre-language training + 5 years of course + 1 of year internship).
  • The remuneration during internship is in between Euro 40 –60K equals to INR 30 lacs (approx.).

Tuition fees

  • There is no/ low tuition fee for the MD program in the Universities in Germany. In 2005, a Federal Constitutional Court ruling overturned the traditional taboo on tuition fees.
  • Until then in Germany it was (almost) only the state that paid for tertiary education. At the moment five federal states charge tuition fees from the first semester onwards, albeit relatively modest ones by international comparison.
  • Other Federal states also levy tuition fees for students who have exceeded ten semesters or have opted after graduation to study another subject. Since 2007, the Federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hamburg, Hessen, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saarland levy tuition fees as of enrollment.
  • Most have set the fees at EUR 500 per semester, but offer secured loans to finance them.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria may differ from university to university. General eligibility criteria for study at a University in Germany are listed below.

1) Bachelors
  • 12th STD with 60 % marks for Engineering & Management.
  • 12th STD with 70 % marks for Medicine & Pharmacy.

2) Masters
  • 12th + 3 Or 4 (Bachelor Degree) with 60 % marks for Engineering & Management.
  • 12th + 4 (Bachelor Degree) with 65 % marks for Pharmacy related program.

Language Requirement
1) If the course is completely in German
  • German as a Foreign Language Test (TestDaF).
  • German Language Test for the Admission of Foreign study applicants (DSH).

2) If the course is in English
  • German Language with A1 level Certificate.
  • IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL (550 and higher (PBT), 213 and higher (CBT), 79 and higher (IBT)).

Entrance Qualification
